July has felt like the emphasis of “wet, hot, American summer” - non-stop rain for a week followed by 104-degree heat. Not quite the summer of outside I was picturing when this summer kicked off, but we gotta do what we can with the cards we are dealt.
Since our last Weekender update, I’ve been a little busy (as is obvious by the lack of an update since Memorial Day Weekend). Following that first holiday weekend, I broke out in a skin rash, finished a few books, fell into the Love Island USA rabbit hole, and put more effort into spending time with friends that I hadn’t seen in a while. It’s this new thing I’m trying where each month, I try my best to see at least one friend that I don’t see that often, either because they have kids now, have moved out to the suburbs, or life has just caused us to become ships passing in the night. And it’s fill my cup in ways I really needed.
I also bought a new bookshelf! And immediately filled it up! Which was both satisfying and a little disheartening because now, I need to go buy another bookshelf…
