Happy Memorial Day weekend, otherwise known as the first-corporate-holiday-since-New-Years-Day-and-the-official-end-to-the-longest-dry-spell-of-company-provided-time-off!

I know I need this 3-day weekend. I can feel it in core of my burnt-out bones. And the best part about this particular 3-day weekend is I’m not filling it to the brim with plans just for the sake of taking advantage of a 3-day weekend (take a shot every time I said 3-day weekend).

I learned last year that what my body really appreciates when it comes to these long weekends is using the extra day to slow down. And this is why we all need to campaign a lot more fiercely for 4-day work weeks, because I have never felt more recovered and ready to take on the work week like I did after I had three weekend days to:

  • Day 1: clean the house and do my chores

  • Day 2: have one a day with little to no responsibilities

  • Day 3: a final day to reset my body, read a book, and slow down.

It’s science! The people need three full days to rest!

Anyways, as we head into this glorious 3-day weekend (take a shot), here are my thoughts on my latest read, The Housemaid, what I’m reading next, my plans for the long weekend, and my meal plan for the short week ahead:
